Exceptional, Community-Based Housing

Home is Our Center. Community Makes It Happen.
Since 1995, Community Homes has provided exceptional community-based housing where adults with developmental disabilities live rich, full lives. We create stable, sustainable homes across King County, Washington, where residents are active participants in their homes and neighborhoods.
Each home is shaped around the people who live there—with compatible housemates, compassionate live-in caregivers, and personalized support that reflects each resident’s strengths, routines, and goals.

Why Families and Caregivers Choose Community Homes
Many housing models meet basic needs. We go further to create spaces where residents feel safe, supported, and truly at home.
Sustainable Housing
We own or lease our homes and proactively maintain them for residents’ comfort, safety, and long-term needs.
Stable Personal Care and Support
Live-in caregivers provide personal care and guidance tailored to residents’ unique strengths, preferences and routines.
Community-Based Living
Our homes are located in local neighborhoods near parks, shops, and transit to foster connection and belonging.
Collaborative Approach
Partnerships with providers, residents, families, guardians, and partners ensure holistic, coordinated support rooted in care and respect.

“We’ve got great caregivers, we’ve got good friends, and we’ve got families here that are nice people. I think it’s getting better every day.”
— Jeremy, Community Homes resident
Our Story
Founded by John and Ann Therrien in 1995, Community Homes began with a single question: How can our daughter Jenny live a full, independent life surrounded by care and community?
From that vision, our first adult family home was born—a home Jenny still shares today with four other women. Today, we’ve grown to 11 homes serving more than 50 residents, each one shaped by our values of belonging, collaboration, and sustainability.

A Community Approach
We don’t do this work alone. Everything we do depends on thoughtful relationships between:
- Motivated adults with developmental disabilities who actively participate in their community and wish to live more independently.
- Committed families and guardians seeking a supportive, inclusive, and lasting housing option.
- Experienced caregivers who strive to provide exceptional care and build community.
- Generous property owners and donors interested in partnering to create new housing options.
